"Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord"
Psalms 100:1 and many other Psalms speak of praising God with shouts and joyful noises!
As you practice and play for others, be patient, and know that in all you do God is always there. "I
am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) and Isaiah 46:4.

Games/Activities/Teacher ResourcesHere are some activities I used for a group of beginning students one summer:
1) Learning about using all of the body to play the piano we complete the following sheet and I sent home the Bible activitiy (1.b.) 1.a.) "What do you need..." button below 1.b.) Today we learned that playing the piano requires many body parts. It takes a brain, fingers, eyes, ears, etc…to be a pianist. In 1 Cor 12:12-27 we learn that it takes many parts to make up another body. Read this together with your family and help them understand this meaning – explaining that it takes many parts (people and their talents/gifts) make up the body of Christ. 2) A couple weeks involved playing many different instuments (hand bells, homemade egg shakers and drums, a tamborine) and activities included:
2.a.) Memorize Psalm 100:1 (KJV), “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD,” and talk about how music can be used as praise. 2.b.) Learn about instruments used during Bible times at the link below and in Psalm 150: http://www.musicofthebible.com/instruments.htm. 3) Today we had a keyboard race (see http://colorinmypiano.com/2012/03/15/the-amazing-keyboard-race/). Students had to use their note knowledge to race from one end to the other of the piano keyboard. The first to get there won! 1 Cor 9:24-25 talks about another type of race, the spiritual race we should be running daily. Read this together with your family and encourage them in their journey. Runner’s Bonus - http://www.mile-posts.com/2011/04/14/26-2-bible-verses-for-running-racing/ 4) Today we created puzzles (both drawing and putting them together requires fine motor skills). Puzzles remind me of Plumb’s song, “God Shaped Hole.” Though there are mixed feeling about this idea, 1 Ezekiel 36:26, I Cor. 3:16, and Isaiah 55:12 are great verses to remind us how God makes us complete. Isaiah shares how awesome that is – the whole earth will make music! Isaiah 55:12 MSG (The Message) "So you'll go out in joy, you'll be led into a whole and complete life. The mountains and hills will lead the parade, bursting with song. All the trees of the forest will join the procession, exuberant with applause.” 5) For Christmas in July I sent home, "Christmas Angels – Luke 2:13. How could you use your piano talents for praising the birth of Jesus?" 6) Be yourself, who God wants you to be. Play “I Like Being Me” (from the free MMF Songbook! at www.makingmusicfun.net) after reading the Beatitudes (Matthew 5), where you will find blessing for being you! 7) 1 Cor 12:4-11 – Give your gift of music to your loved ones… Sing the lyrics of the first two lines of a stanza in “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” while playing“Ode to Joy.” (Bastien Primer) 8) Psalm 40.3 – Learn a new song of praise or compose one of your own! 9) At our last class the message was, "Continue practicing and playing the piano. Learn new songs and share with family, friends, and your church. As you practice, be patient, and know that in all you do God is always there. "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) and Isaiah 46:4. |
